Pennu dyddiad ar gyfer y gwrandawiad

Pan gaiff ymchwiliad ei agor, byddwch chi'n derbyn llythyr gyda manylion y broses sy'n arwain at y gwrandawiad terfynol.  Gan ddibynnu ar y math o achos, tua 3 mis ar ôl i'r gwrandawiad ddechrau fydd hyn, ond gall fod yn gynt na hynny. 

Byddwn ni'n rhoi gwybod i chi o ddyddiad unrhyw wrandawiad llys. Byddwn ni'n gwneud ein gorau glas i roi o leiaf 4 wythnos o rybudd i chi. Fodd bynnag, nid yw hynny bob amser yn bosibl o ystyried argaeledd Crwner ac Ystafell y Llys. Unwaith i'r Crwner gael yr adroddiadau a'r datganiadau i gyd, bydd yn penderfynu pwy mae eisiau galw i ddod i'r llys, a phwy y bydd ei adroddiad yn cael ei ddarllen yn uchel yn unig. 

 Bydd y Crwner yn aml yn gofyn i aelod o'r teulu i ddod.  Hwnnw neu honno fydd y sawl a roddodd datganiad cefndir i'r Heddlu, ac efallai nad perthynas agos neu'r un agosaf mohono, o reidrwydd.  Os oes perthynas agosach arall, byddwn ni'n rhoi gwybod iddo/iddi am y dyddiad, gan roi'r opsiwn p'un ai ddod neu beidio.  Os nad oes angen aelod o'r teulu ar y Crwner, byddwn ni'n rhoi gwybod i'r berthynas agosaf am y dyddiad beth bynnag, gan roi'r opsiwn i ddod ai peidio. 

Mae croeso i bob aelod o'r teulu, a chyfeillion ddod i'r gwrandawiad, os dyna ddymuniad y perthnasau.  Mae'n llys agored.  Gofynnwn i'r rheiny sy'n derbyn llythyron i roi gwybod i aelodau eraill o'r teulu am y dyddiad. 

Os byddwn ni'n gofyn i aelod o'r teulu i ddod i'r llys, ond byddai'n well gyda fe/hi i beidio, mae modd gofyn a, gael ei (h)esgusodi.  Fe ddylen nhw wneud hynny yn ysgrifenedig, gan roi'u rhesymau, a bydd y Crwner yn dod i benderfyniad.

Before the date is fixed, the Coroner’s Officer will telephone to check whether there are any dates such as pre-planned holidays etc to avoid.  Once the Coroner has all the reports and statements, they will decide who they need to attend court and who can just have their report read out. 

If there is any reason that the Coroner might need to ask questions of someone, they will be asked to attend in person.  We try to keep a balance between having full and complete evidence and not taking doctors and other professionals away from patients unnecessarily.

The Coroner will often require a member of the family to attend.  This will be the person who made the background statement to the Police, which means it may not be the closest relative or next of kin.  If there is another closer relative, we will inform them of the date and give them the option to attend.  If the Coroner does not require a member of the family, we will still inform the next of kin of the date and give them the option to attend. 

All relatives, and any friends the relatives wish to invite, are welcome to attend the hearing.  It is an open court.  We ask the people who receive letters to inform other family members of the date. 

If we ask a family member to attend court but they would prefer not to come, they can apply to be excused.  They should do so in writing, giving their reasons, and the Coroner will make a decision.
